When does “Start profiling and reload page” decide to stop the automatic recording?

We are using the Performance Timeline in Chrome DevTools to capture performance recordings of our page.
Almost we use the "Start profiling and reload page" which automatically starts and stops the recording.
But we do not know when does DevTools decide to stop the recording?
Please give some pointer on this.
